LOST ratings rebound with 5.06

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lost surged upward this week in ratings, to 11.3 million viewers and the top spot among the coveted 18-49 age demographic. What’s more, Lost was the top rated scripted series of the night with its much-talked-about episode featuring the Oceanic 6’s return to the island, rating even higher than Fox’s freshman drama Lie to Me’s 11.1 million. (Lie to Me has consistently beaten Lost or tied it in the ratings since its debut.) In overall viewership, Lost came in second for the night to American Idol’s 24.4 million viewers.

Am I the only one who thinks that American Idol is everything that’s wrong with the world?

No. And once American Idol moves to 9 p.m., expect Lost’s ratings to drop to 9.5-10 million viewer levels again — which sucks, but we bloggers will always have the DVR argument in our arsenal. Some sites are making it out to be some sort of battle between the two shows when they’re really just trying to set Lost up for failure: it isn’t exactly a fair match-up when one show typically gets 250% the viewers of the other.

AI’s ratings have been declining for a while, but at intervals which are way too small for my liking. The stranglehold it has on American television is disconcerting.

Actually I disagree… American Idol is everything that’s wrong with America. But Australian Idol is everything that’s wrong with Australia. And Pinoy Idol is everything that’s wrong with the Philippines… Need I go on?
LONG LIVE LOST! DIE IDOL DIE!
