Lost one of 10 Best Shows of 2008

The American Film Institute has released its annual list of Film and TV Programs of the Year, and for 2008, Lost was among the best shows, as awarded by the AFI. The ten winners selected by the AFI are not awarded in any particular order; each of the ten receives the same award and prestige as the other nine.

The other nine shows listed alongside Lost for Best of 2008 are: Breaking Bad, In Treatment, John Adams, Life, Mad Men, The Office, Recount, The Shield, and The Wire. Personally, I think it’s a good — if mostly predictable — list. But the lack of love for Battlestar Galactica leaves me nonplussed. And it’s worth noting that of the ten winners, seven of them come from cable television, and not broadcast TV networks (like ABC, which airs Lost).
