‘Lipstick Jungle’ Is on the Way

Lipstick Jungle
NBC is really starting to do some housekeeping at headquarters. After making full seasons official for the rookie series Chuck and Life on Monday, the network announced on Tuesday that the oft-discussed and much-anticipated hour-long dramedy Lipstick Jungle will premiere on Thursday, February 7. Mark your calendars, fans-in-waiting.

The female-oriented series stars Brooke Shields of Suddenly Susan; Kim Raver of The Nine, 24, and Third Watch; and Lindsay Price of Pepper Dennis and Beverly Hills, 90210 as “three high-powered friends [who] weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game” in New York City. Shields plays a film executive named Wendy who has a family, Raver an editor-in-chief named Nico who helms a top fashion magazine, and Price a designer named Victory who’s looking for a little love on the side.

The men of the Jungle include David Alan Basche (United 93, Rescue Me), Brit Paul Blackthorne (Big Shots, The Dresden Files, 24), former Brat Pack-er Andrew McCarthy (Weekend at Bernie’s, Pretty in Pink), and David Norona (Lincoln Heights, Six Feet Under).

Lipstick Jungle is based on the bestseller of the same name by popular author Candace Bushnell. She also wrote the New York Observer column famously called Sex and the City, of course, upon which the future HBO hit series starring Sarah Jessica Parker was based.

Look for Lipstick Jungle on Thursday nights at 10pm EST, in ER‘s regular fall time slot, starting with a pilot directed by Gary Winick of the Jennifer Garner comedy 13 Going on 30.
