Liam Gallagher Slags Off Radiohead, Coldplay Fans - Must Be New Album On Way

How strange, we don’t hear a peep out of Oasis or the Gallagher brothers for months, and then as soon as a new album is on the way, they can’t keep their mouths shut. Surely after 17 years of being in the band, you’d think the pair would know better than to create some cheap publicity.

Liam Gallagher Is A Fascist_nc

We’ve already had Noel Gallagher slagging off the decision to have Jay-Z as headliner at Glastonbury. That ended with Noel having to eat his words as Jay-Z put on a brilliant performance. Now Liam has decided to go after Radiohead and Coldplay, and more importantly, their legions of fans.

Dig Out Your Soul is due out on October 6th, and the Mancunian brothers have started doing interviews with the press again in an effort to drum up some momentum. Liam spoke to Times Online about life, love, being a celebrity, and being a father. It was all delivered in his usual style, with the f word spread liberally around.

You can read the full interview if you want, but as is my job, I’m going to draw your attention to just the most obnoxious and intriguing things he said.

On his change of lifestyle:

“I’ve mellowed, but not in the sense of liking Radiohead or Coldplay. I don’t hate them. I don’t wish they had accidents. I think their fans are boring and ugly and they don’t look like they’re having a good time.”

On contemporary bands:

“Not interested. I play the Beatles, the Stones, the Kinks, Neil Young, the Pistols. Maybe a bit of the Roses. Don’t like modern bands. Topman music, innit?”

Didn’t I tell you? Articulate as usual. He seems to have missed out on the change we’ve recently seen in Coldplay, as they are now a band who definitely look like they are enjoying themselves.

Okay, Radiohead can be dour at times, but they are also probably the best band to emerge from the UK over the last 20 years. They are certainly better than Oasis. And although Noel has already seen fit to criticise the digital download release of In Rainbows, most of us saw it as a brilliant experiment.

As for the contemporary bands comment, well I can’t disagree on any of the older bands mentioned, although the Sex Pistols are now getting on my nerves, but Liam is clearly losing out by failing to listen to the newer bands emerging in Britain and beyond.

As I said before, the only reason Liam has said any of this is to gain some publicity for Oasis’ new album. And I’ve just given it to them. Is it better if I tell you not to go out and buy it?

shit article, blatantly anti-oasis in order to try and attain some originality, yet full of bias and nothing more then personal opinion, and to say they need to listen to newer bands to “keep up” is just a stupid statement, guess the success and critical reception of dig out your soul kind of defeated the opinion of a lowly journo. no interest in what uve got to say, probly why im the first to comment in what, 4 months?

And you’re just an lowly Oasis fan, with no idea of how to use proper punctuation or spelling, so why should he have any interest in what you’ve got to say?

    “uve”…

Tsk, tsk, tsk . . . let’s not get nasty. At least not until I have a chance to be nasty, too. Ha! I like Oasis. I have noticed that neither Liam nor Noel Gallagher have ever been at a loss for words.

Radiohead best band in 20 years? what a joke statement. bore, bore, bore, bore, bore, bore, bore. apart from 3 or 4 exceptions. There isnt a music scene without oasis, actually no there is, one devoted to saving the world and ripping shirts off on stage. Nothing wrong with coldplay, bit bland at times but still a top band. Not a patch on the musical genius of noel gallagher and the true rockstar persona of liam though. Quite rightly perceived by the majority as one of the best bands of all time (in my opinion top 3 at least). Not all bad for Thom Yorke and co. though. I’d place them at least 97th in the all time ranking. Bring on many more oasis albums. Mad ‘fer it
