Led Zeppelin Tour 'Dead In The Water' | No Plans For A UK Tour During 2009... Maybe

Ever since legendary British rockers Led Zeppelin reformed for a one-off show at the London 02 Arena in support of the Ahmet Ertegun Foundation last year, there have been calls for a full world tour – a kind of final big blow out before the band all start popping their clogs.

The rumours have come thick and fast, and we’ve had Jimmy Page telling us that it’s only Robert Plant stopping it happening. It really has been a roller-coaster ride of speculation and denials. But the ride may now be coming to an end because the Led Zeppelin tour is reportedly “dead in the the water”.

The quote comes from Gerry Toms, manager of the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. He told NME that the band would not be playing the Welsh stadium in 2009, meaning that the chances of any UK tour are very slim.

“It’s dead in the water. Because the concert was a success there was hope of a tour, but that was a lot of speculation. It would be great if they would, but as far as we know that is dead in the water.”

There is still a chance of course, but you have to assume that if any tour was being planned, the details would already be known by the venues themselves, and clearly the Millennium Stadium bosses think there isn’t a hope in hell of it happening.

I’ve spoken on numerous occasions about my desire for Led Zeppelin to do a full tour and give all of us fans, who were too young or unlucky to see them in their prime, a chance to finally realise the dream. Hell, even Dave Grohl wants in, and there’s no better endorsement than that.

But it seems for now that nothing is happening… although no-one said anything about 2010 did they? I can wait another year.
