I'm a server at TGIFriday's, and have been for almost 4 years. 15% was the suggested tipping for the 90's. Nowadays it's 20%. YES, stars should leave over the suggested tipping percentage. I leave well over 20% because I'm a server and know how it is. Most people don't know this, but the whole tip you leave for your server does NOT all go to your server. The server has to tip out a percentage of your total bill to the bartender (even if you didn't get a drink), the busser (even if you weren't that messy), and in some places the server has to tip out the hostess (even if a server sat you instead). Some people don't know how to tip, and will leave nothing to 10%, and that's just a slap in the face. If a server doesn't give you good service, don't take it out of their tip, tell a manager, and the manager will probably pay for your meal...but don't forget to tip the server the 20% of the original total bill. How would you feel is someone came into where you worked, and complained about you for a simple mistake, and then your boss cut your pay for that hour. Makes no sense does it. This is a really heated topic for me, because well I'm talking about my paycheck. So, if anyone wants a conversation about it, please reply. I'd love to talk more about this.
