Katie Jacobs Interview With Michael Ausiello

Anne Dudek

Michael Ausiello at TVGuide.com interviewed House Executive Producer, Katie Jacobs, about the final decision for House’s team. Here’s an excerpt, but I know you’ll want to go read the entire interview.

Why’d you cut the Cutthroat Bitch! I loved her!
Katie Jacobs: I can tell you that it was a phenomenally difficult decision. When we decided to go in this [Survivor-like] direction this season, [fellow exec producer] David Shore and I never anticipated that we’d fall in love with as many of the characters as we did — and [Cutthroat Bitch] was certainly one of those. But I would say that, if you want to see more of her, so do we. And I think that that might happen. She’s terrific, and she adds a really great color to the group. I’m looking forward to finding a way that she could come back into the fold.

(follow the jump for more)

When did you know who the final three would be?
Jacobs: At the very last minute, because we really didn’t know how it was all going to work out. We went around the writers room and everyone quietly ranked who they wanted to write for. Everybody loved all the actors; it was more a question of who they wanted to write for and how they clashed with and blended with House.

How did the actors find out their characters were being fired? By reading the script?
Jacobs: No. We wouldn’t do that. But David and I also knew that if we sent a message to the set that we wanted to meet with them, then they would know automatically that [they were being let go]. But, unfortunately, this became the way that we did it, because we felt that it was really important [to tell them ourselves] — even before the actors’ representation knew. First we would talk to Hugh [Laurie] and let him know — because we always include him in the business of the show — and then David and I would go visit them in their trailer or we would call them on the phone. It was horrible. It was really horrible.

How ridiculous! Thirteen is a terrible actor! No depth, no personality… yeah she shines!

Rachel, i am agree with you.
I can understand why people find Anne Dudek hot and pretty. She is not. On the photo shots looks up- down, but in acting we can see the whole her “prettiness”.
I am happy that 13 stays, because Owivia Wilde is not only “pretty face”, she is and talented actress.
Please, never bring back The CTBitch!!!

I was comfortable with the Amber character knowing (so I thought!) that she was only temporary. I agree with the idea that she was completely over the top. That isn’t an actor knock coming from me. I’m sure Ms. Dudek played the part as written and she was written over the top.

NO! AMBER NEEDS TO STAY OUT OF HOUSE’S TEAM.

Dudek’s acting was HORRIBLE and so was that character. Everything was over done. I understand that there are very ambitious people in this world but to go as far as Amber and just be a bitch like that? No.

    DO NOT BRING HER BACK!

I like Amber, she is is infinitely a more interesting character than 13! One mysterious and righteous character is more than enough with Cameron!

Anne Dudek is a pretty woman and good actress she played Amber so well that some viewers just couldn’t but hate her!

Yes, 13 is prettier and a much more likable character. However, none of the new team can rival the beautiful Dr. Chase.

I don’t believe that this was a difficult decision. 13 was chosen because she is more conventionally pretty than Amber.

YAY! Thirteen is staying! YAY! YAY! YAY!
