Kanye West declaired himself the new “King of Pop” when addressing a Scrape TV yesterday. West, who is known for his over-inflated ego has said that after the passing of Michael Jackson it’s time now to pass on the crown.
Unfortunately someone forgot to tell Kanye that no one is ever declared King of Pop, there is no coronation or ceremony involved. Michael Jackson received the name after his close friend Elizabeth Taylor handed him a “Artist of the Decade” prize back in 1989.
If any rapper is to receive any Kingly title in the hip-hop industry it would have to go to Jay-Z not to some reverb wannabe. Also because Jay-Z truly is the Godfather of Rap.

Kanye West dont even come close to the king of pop. Michael Is an entertainer. He can dance/sing/rap a lil/dance/write and produces. Kanye just writes and sample. So Kanye don’t even come close and if he is I declare Popular music dead.

Kanye is so full of himself and just makes himself look like a tard..and as far as Jay-Z being Godfather of rap..if thats the case then yeah Kanye can be the next King of Pop. Sorry no way is Jay-z the godfather of rap..!! Just because he apparently has freestyled every album he has put out doesn’t make him the God father..There are plenty of other cats in the game that have done the same thing and could probally even eat Jay for lunch at a battle..and because hes sold several million doesn’t give him the title either..!!
Don’t know about the King of Pop, but I know the brother who Michael thought was the King of Rock….Jean Beauvoir, lead singer of Crown of Thorns. check him out at http://www.crownofthorns.com or just google him. This is a true inspirational rock star who worked with Kiss, Bon Jovi, Ramones, Springsteen and the list goes on. Prince, Michael, Lionel and Lenny all love this guy and its a shame no one in the US knows about him!
I agreed with everything you said except for the last part. Jay-Z is not the Godfather of Rap. There are many, MANY other Rappers worth mentioning who deserve that title long before Jay-Z can lay claim to it. Rakim, Nas, KRS-1–Need I say more? Just had to make that point known.
