It seems the good fortune shining on Hugh Laurie is wide spread. First, his former piano teacher releases a jazz album. Now, a former script writer, Jon Canter, has released his first novel:
It took scriptwriter Jon Canter 50 years of research before he was ready to write his first book, learns Julia White.
‘You can take the boy out of Golders Green but you can’t take Golders Green out of the boy,” insists Jon Canter. The Radio Four scriptwriter for Lenny Henry, among other top comedians, has long since left the area in which he grew up but maintains that north-west London still forms a vital part of his identity.
So much so that a substantial part of his first book, Seeds of Greatness, which is published this week, is set in the area.
Greatness, it seems, is contagious.
