Each season of The L Word, star Jennifer Beals kept a photo journal to encapsulate her memories of working on the show. She saved the scripts, call sheets, memos and photos from each of her six years on the show, along with behind-the-scenes snapshots.
As she has with other projects she cared about, Beals gathered those materials into a memory book to give to the cast and crew when the final season of The L Word wrapped.
“Somewhere underneath the plotlines of The L Word ran our own stories of friendship and struggle,” she said. “These photographs evoke the various bonds and battles we as a cast endured.” But as she finished the project, Beals realized her book might have value to the fans who supported them, too.
“The L Word as a series was, at its core, about community and that played out behind the scenes as the cast formed its own community. But the series also was about all of you who made our collective journey possible,” she said in a letter to fans. So Beals decided to make the book available to the public. It’s too late for Christmas, but you can sign up to order a personalized copy of the book here.
The proceeds will benefit charities such as the Matthew Shepard Foundation, Mia Kirshner’s I Live Here Projects and The Pablove Foundation.
