Jason’s “Lab Rats” Recap from CSI:Vegas

Lynn gave her recap of last week’s CSI:Vegas episode of “Lab Rats” here, now it’s my turn.

As Lynn stated, the episode title ended up having a little bit of a double-entendre. As our episode teaser alluded to, the team of lab specialists were going to have the focus for much of this episode. Hodges convinces his colleagues that Grissom isn’t sleeping at night because he’s staying awake trying to figure out the evidence left behind for the miniature killer. The team is encouraged to do this because they look at things in a different light and this is their opportunity to shine.

As the episode progresses, there’s the rat that escapes from the belly of another body in the morgue as Grissom and the medical examiner perform the autopsy. The rat came out like the alien creature in the movie Alien, and we even got a little bit of a girly scream from the m.e. because he’s afraid of rats. The body was pretty gross, my dad used to be a deputy coroner and they would call these bodies that would drown and not be found for a few days “floaters” or “bobbers”. He said you’d be amazed at what some good ol’ H20 will do to a body given the time.

As we continue, Hodges keeps leading the team in their efforts, but intentionally leaves out one member because he feels she takes over the situation. She did seem to do that, but there also seemed to be a little bit of a romance brewing between the two as they continued working together. That was until the end when she realized that Hodges hadn’t ever really received the request from Grissom to help out. The reason Hodges started this task was because he felt today was his lucky day after a series of fortunate events came into his path.

The other interesting twist that I felt in the show was that it appeared they may have been leading up to Hodges being the miniature killer. Although it would have been a stretch, that would have proved a very interesting plot line twist to the story.

In the end, Hodges finds a connection between all four miniatures in that all of them have bleach as a common thread in each. Grissom accepts this as a possible evidence fact after Hodges sincerely apologizes for overstepping his bounds, but ends up being happy because after all it was his lucky day.

We’ll have to wait and see where this new evidence leads Grissom and the team for catching the miniature killer. Will it be a part of this season’s finale?
