A lone gunman stands at the end of a dusty, barren, western street. Across from him . . . a giant bug.
“This town ain’t big enough for the both of us.”
Actually, this town isn’t big enough for even one of them, if the one is a giant bug creature from outer space.
It’s High Plains Invader and it’s a Syfy original movie starring James Marsters and Cindy Sampson.
It’s the early 20th century, and this small western mining town is invaded by giant insectoid alien creatures whose only mission is to mine uranium to fuel their spaceship – but they’ll kill anyone or anything that gets in their way. Who can save them? Only a ” retired outlaw” who was about to be hanged, so he’s got nothing left to lose.
Wait. . .retired outlaw? Is there a pension plan for that?
I haven’t seen it, but boy, I want to. Watch High Plains Invader, Sunday, August 30th at 9:00 on Syfy.

Well the firearm situation was way off , the main characters were using what looked like .38 specials and .357 magnums , I did not see an authentic period pistol in the bunch. Even sci-fi needs to be remotely accurate to try to establish some credibility.
6 shooters held 5 rounds, the 6th chamber was empty to prevent misfirings…which only goes to show that continuity nazis probably need to get a life :P
Uhm…Richard…hun, I’m sure there were no robotic aliens with tentacles in the old west either. It’s just a bad scifi movie sweetie, but hey it has James Marsters in, and really who was looking to see what kind of guns they were using…well except you?
Don’t see it on the schedule right now but I’m sure it will pop up again. Check On Demand it was there over the summe
Previews were shown but movie was never broadcast (to my knowledge) as promised in my area . When will it repeat?
Southfield, MI
It was OK except for the whole gun problem. They at least got 6 shooters to ONLY shoot 6 rounds before reloading but, the Single Actions were operating as double actions and many of the revolvers used were NOT made at that time.
There were NO double action revolvers in the old west.
