Is Brotherhood dunzo? The Boston Herald says yes.

Jason Clarke and Jason Isaacs Brotherhood Season 3

Well, we knew the odds weren’t good for a fourth season of Brotherhood when Ethan Embry said he would be surprised if Showtime renewed the gangster drama.

It’s still not official that Showtime’s pulled the plug on the Caffee’s adventures in Providence, but The Boston Herald is quoting anonymous sources from the set who say the series is dunzo.

The network says there’s been no official decision on Brotherhood’s future, but the Peabody-winning show never got the ratings — or the promotional push — of Showtime’s top performers like Dexter and Weeds.

The network’s gonna let the production “whither on the vine,” the Herald’s source says. Too bad, ’cause I know many Showtime Fans who think Brotherhood’s better than The Sopranos ever was. Sure would be nice to see Jason Isaacs and Jason Clarke spar for one more season, or for Showtime to at least let us know if they’re pulling the plug.

  1. don broughton

If they let the sopranos drag on for two more wretched seasons w/ go-nowhere plots and over kill on sideline stories (how many times did ton6y have to confornt the ny mob, whats his names gay roadtrip?) the latter could have been wrapped up in half the episodes. Bortherhood is at least consistent with the plots leading toward something not like the sopranos “show-about-nothing” ala Seinfeld that they tantlaized people w/ for the last 3 seasons
