Poor pouty Jonathan Rhys Meyers. First a drunk and disorderly arrest, and now his mum has passed away.

The BBC reports that Geraldine Meyers-O’Keeffe died in a hospital in Cork, Ireland, after a brief, undisclosed illness. She was only 50 years old.

JRM is on the road promoting his new film August Rush, but the Tudors star is said to be “exceptionally close” to his mother, according to the Belfast Telegraph. Here’s hoping he takes time off to grieve and doesn’t find solace in a pint of Guinness.
