Hugh Laurie Interview This Morning!

I awoke to a really fun surprise this morning! I have told my TiVo all of my favorite actors and it just recorded a show this morning for me that I wasn’t expecting. (I just love my trusty TiVo!) The show was a movie review show called Lions & Bailes Reel Talk. The guest that was interviewed on this morning’s show was Hugh Laurie, there to talk about his role as Dr. Cockroach in Monsters vs. Aliens. I immediately went to the web site and grabbed the clip of the interview for you.

Hugh says that he’s happy that Dr. Cockroach has a British accent, so he can relax and do the voice without having to Americanize it. He also talks about how he manages to keep his performance on the show fresh for each episode. You’ll love the fact that he jokes about House being loosely based on Clint Eastwood’s portrayal of The Man With No Name from the old westerns. And that Clint Eastwood tries to emulate House in all of his performances…LOL! Then they discuss what he misses the most about working in the US vs. in the UK. And stay tuned until the end where they discuss the possibilities of his novel The Gun Seller being made into a movie!

Oh it’s *got* to be Smarties for sure, those wonderful orangey ones just can’t be bested :)
I agree with the comments about him being such a gracious and articulate interviewee, I wish more of our ‘celebs’ were more star-like in having real qualities to be admired, but he’s so reticent with it you just want to give him a hug and tell him it’s ok !

He is always beautiful ! Hugh Laurie is really a polite english man!

It’s a great pleasure to see him out the shows. (in House he’s perfect too!)

    Thank’s for the post.

His first novel is “The Gun Seller” and it’s brilliant. I can’t wait for the second one. Hugh is THE most gorgeous (nearly) 50 yr. old on the planet!! :)

Is there a first novel that I don’t know about?
    GREAT catch, Lynn.
    Thanks for sharing.

I love your Tivo, too! Thanks for sharing this wonderful interview. I liked the part where they argued over which was better, America’s M&M’s or England’s Smarties. LOL

And so glad the interviewer mentioned his book!

You know, it’s not so easy for the interviewer here, because, he’s got given questions that he has to ask and has a short time for the whole conversation. So, I think this was a great interview, with lots of infos about Hugh that I didn’t know.

The only thing that kept this from being an excellent interview was the silly interviewer ! Could that man try & NOT talk through Hugh’s responses. The best interviewer is a listener.
I am, as always, struck by Hugh Laurie’s graciousness and by just how articulate he is. I’m delighted to know his second novel is ready for the publishers. I hope Clint Eastwood plays House’s biological Dad on some future episode.
I love your TiVo too ! Thanks so much.
