Forbes Magazine just released their list of the 100 Most Powerful Celebrities. And Hugh Laurie is listed as #94.
According to list, he earns $10 million dollars each year. I say, good for him! He deserves that! He’s only one of the most amazing actors anywhere.
I wonder what Hugh has to say about this honor. As modest as he is, he probably would make some sort of joke about it. If I hear any of his comments, I will let you know!!

He deserves it more than half the actors or actresses out there, he’s not caught up in himself, and he puts the money to good use, unlike others… and KIT is right, HL put House out there and how many people do you think could fake an american accent, while making house one of the top viewed shows?Not many. He deserves every penny and with out him House would deffinatl not be the same and if he just happens to get paid 10 million, well good for him.But it’s not ‘insensitive’ to think he deseves it cuz he does and he puts it to good use and has obviosly changed lives so if the money comes,then the money comes:)
Hugh Laurie’s $10,000,000.00 is undoubtly well earned. He put HOUSE on the map, there isn’t any actor out there who could have made HOUSE what he is. However given that Hugh lives in Britan still with his family, when you convert the USD $10 mil into British pounds, Laurie made a little over $6 million British Pounds. Not a bad income for a year’s work I’ll grant you, but if I were Hugh, I would insist on getting paid in British Pounds, and make that $10 million British pounds if you please…$10 million British Pounds is in excess of $16 million USD…and in my book HUGH LAURIE is without a doubt worth $10 Million British Pounds Plus more for his work on
HOUSE. He is a gentleman, not a photo hog, he had given the FOX network some dignity, they are lucky to have him. HUGH LAURIE is the CLARK CABLE, WILLIAM POWELL, CARY GRANT of this generation.

HL’s payday directly impacts the show’s intake which directly impacts the income of everyone associated with it even peripherally. If most Banks or Company Executives worked as hard as HL or had held his talent for what they did, I wouldn’t begrudge them the payday either. There wouldn’t be an economic crisis due to lack luster effort at the top. Not ‘insensitive’ just able to see the bigger picture. People need leaders in all fields, the lack of them is what has hurt this country. Want a guy NOT worth $10 million ? He was just in the White House fir 8 years…………

“He deserves that!”–srsly? With the worst economic crisis in decades and eight states nearing or in double digit unemployment, you think any actor DESERVES ten million dollars a year? How insensitive are you?

He’s likely one of the few who actually earn their celebrity pay cheque i.e. can act in either comedy or drama/ appears in nearly every scene/ sings/plays multiple musical instruments/juggles/ writes/ serves as an Executive Producer/ does tons of PR for the show / no personal scandals/ keeps winning awards within the context of the show (more PR)/does his own stunt work/ sets an example for professionalism on the set/ bolsters worthy charities etc.
He also maintains his home on Britain so his taxes must be astronomically high. He’s likely supporting 1/2 of Britain.
