The news just broke about Cameron’s leaving House mid-season. I still don’t like the news at all, but it seems that it’s story-driven. Kristin at E! Online has been workin g to get to the bottom of the situation for us.
I’ve put most of the spoinler behind the jump so if you don’t want a plot spoiler, don’t click.
According to our favorite frenemy, Jennifer Morrison’s run as Dr. Allison Cameron on House will end midseason, and her exit was a creative decision on the part of the producers. (Meaning Morrison didn’t quit; she was written out.)
OK, so that’s the alleged behind-the-scenes situation—according to a rep, “The show does not have any comment” on reports of Morrison’s exit—but forget the Hollywood drama. What drives Cameron to ditch her job at Princeton-Plainsboro after more than five years in House’s orbit?
Read on for the exclusive scoop we got from insiders on why Cameron leaves her husband and the hospital…
Here’s what sources spill about Cameron’s departure: After Chase treads a thin moral line on a case involving an African dictator, he and Cameron both decide they should get out of Princeton while the getting’s good. They plan to quit the hospital together and go somewhere else where they can focus on their relationship and on each other.
And then House gets involved. Because House (Hugh Laurie) is the devil. (Argh!)
House, who loves nothing more than to pour poison in the ears of his friends, starts talking to Chase about Cameron. House suggests that Cameron forgiving Chase for his misdeeds with the dictator is out of character for her.
Shortly thereafter, Chase has an inexplicable change of heart and decides he wants to stay with House after all. Cameron is understandably upset.
Harumph.
According to insiders, this all goes down around episode eight.
If nothing else, this certainly casts a new light on what Jesse Spencer told us at the House premiere party in Hollywood last week: “I’ve got a lot of storylines coming my way. There’s a bit of dodgy doctoring going on. But dodgy doctoring is all we do on the show. Bend the rules a little bit—that’s what House does. If House was practicing medicine [in the real world] he’d have lot his license on day one.”
Long story short: Chase drank the boss’ Kool-Aid, Cameron didn’t and horrible, horrible House wins again. [Source: E! Online]

What is wrong with FOX? Cuddy and House are always the same old thing, he makes nasty cracks about her while she nags him and pretends to have some degree of authority over him. Taub has some decent one liners but he’s basically dull. Thirteen is a horror – she looks good but Olivia Wilde can’t act and just grates on your nerves. Foreman is okay but just okay. Wilson and House are great together as are Chase and Cameron. Chase won’t be anywhere near as good without Cameron. Cameron is the only character who actually connects with all the others. Cameron is also the only character (other than his shrink) who seems to inspire a range of emotions and a higher degree of consciousness from House. Fox could do SO much with Cameron’s character and instead they are ditching Jennifer and keeping Olivia – are they crazy? I have always looked forward to House but now…it’s getting tedious. I think I’ll see what else is on.
that video game crap was annoying
Liz, I don’t always believe what I read. I thought that was clear from my comment. lol
I know, there WAS a ton of Foreteen, which pretty much ruined this past episode. Danielle, don’t always believe what u read. Whoever watches Carson Daly Thursday nite, reply back & do a confirmation about what’s going on. I think we’re all gonna be on the edge of our seats until we have the truth here. Just keep ur fingers crossed for the better everyone.
I so completely agree with you, Sandy! In fact I agree with most of your posts. I hope the “shakeups” are over with soon so we can get back to watching more HOUSE and not so much Foreteen and the silly story about Taub quitting (who cares – let him quit) and Chameron. A tiny little bit of the Foreteen, Chameron and Taub fluff is ok if it lends something to the rest of the story, but they did overdo it Monday.
It will be interesting to see the directions the show takes this year given all the shake ups. As people have stated, the show is called House and he is the main character and the show should revolve around him with the other characters as support. I really thought Monday night’s ep had too much Foreteen and not enough House and I hope that things get back to normal with the later episodes.
“Creative decision” my A$$! I don’t know what’s going on, and I certainly don’t like it, but there’s a story we’re not getting. I agree with the critic who speculated that Jen has ticked off one of the higher-ups. They spent 2+ years setting up Hameron, and they hinted/said repeatedly that it was going to lead somewhere. Those of us who watched from the beginning followed TPTB’s lead, and believed that and got attached to that storyline. They apparently don’t care that they’ve betrayed those loyal fans.
It’s like a baby duck who imprints itself upon the first mother figure it sees. In the first 2 seasons, TPTB consistently imprinted upon us that Hameron was the way they were eventually going to go. Small wonder we feel betrayed!
Greg, that’s an interesting theory – if it’s true then I can understand her taking a leave of absence
Danielle – I’m hanging out for that to be the truth! I’ll cry if she leaves forever lol
From what I gathered from Jacobs’ interview is that Jennifer/Cameron is not really leaving the show. Okay, imagine you are Katie Jacobs and you have this major cliffhanger coming on your show in which a character leaves. Now, do you tell everyone, “Hey, don’t worry; she’s not leaving. She’s still on the show!” Or, you’d say, “I don’t know what is going to happen.” I, like Jacobs, would go with the second choice. She just doesn’t want to give anything away. What’s the point of having a cliffhanger if everyone knows the outcome? (Think Grey’s Anatomy) So, calm down. Don’t listen to what Kristin has to say. Why the heck would anyone tell her the complete plotline or story arc? It makes no sense anyway. It reminds me of the rumor that Chase was going to get deported.
There is no need for name calling even if you really do not like a character. I would be sand to see Cam go and I hope her exit is a bit more thought through and more logical than what the spoiler makes out of it! Better writers needed may be!!!
I thinnk they wrote Jennifer out of the show because she might be pregnant. But that’s just a wild guess from my point of view.
Anyway, there’s more to come ;) Just wait and see. Don’t get too excited now!
I read in a series that KJ doesn’t know if it’s temporary or not… either way this is still too weird for me… @_@
everyone there (producers, writers, etc) seems to always like Cameron, suddenly taking her out…
I wonder if this is the story arc for Chase that they were talking about… it doesn’t seem like “They have some problems with a secret one is not telling the other, but when the other finds out is much worse” that LE said… I’m confused… I wish this that kristin said doesn’t quite happened like she said, because is so sad ç_ç’ but still, I wonder if there’s is some reason for Chase’s sudden heart change and why/what… hmn….
but still, I somewhat think leaving would be good for Jennifer, I mean, the show is its higher success, as do her, but her character for two years is doing practically anything… If she leave, she’ll focus on movies, in which she’ll probably do great success in it, for her fans be happy…
I lost interest in the Cameron character sometime in season 3, too, so I really don’t care what they do with her character this season. I do think that all of this name calling is shameful. There are ways to express feelings in a public forum without calling someone “stupid” or any of the other foul, offensive adjectives that have been used in earlier posts. Come on people, we’re all adults and this is just entertainment, a television show :)
can anybody tell me the name of the show you are talking about ?
Cameron MD ?
Cuddy MD ?
Foreman MD ?
Mickey Mouse MD ?
OH ! Yes, I remember ! HOUSE MD !
That’s why I watch it.
But I’m french, so you know, maybe I didn’t understood.
I am very curious to see how this season will unfold…
SAD. The storyline, as stated, makes no sense whatsoever. WHY would House try to break up Cameron and Chase’s marriage? Was Cameron planning on she and Chase not working while spending more time together?? WHY would they have to quit their job to do that AND, HOW could they both quit? Are they independently wealthy? I am really shocked by this news. I would much rather Taub or 13 go. They are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boring!!
I really hope there is another explanation to Jennifer’s leaving.
She will be on Carson Daly on Thurs. 10-01. Maybe she will tell us then.
Honestly, Jennifer Morrison has hardly been on the show for the past two seasons. Either she or Olivia Wilde had to go because they both filled that young female doctor role. I never cared for her character because it seems like she was always preaching and was judgmental. I’m happy that Jesse Spencer will soon be back in the mix in a more prominent way. Jennifer will have many opportunities in the future and I wish her all the best.
While it all seems a bit odd for this to suddenly happen, I think people should wait until the facts are known before such silly and offensive name calling! Particularly as according to Katie Jacobs, she and Jennifer Morrison have a “spa day together planned”. Who says it was her idea? She doesnt actually write the stories! There has to have been something going on behind the scenes we don’t know about. Personally not bothered as I have thought Cameron ceased to be an interesting character from about midway through Season 3! As long as the wonderful and gorgeous HL stays (and he confirmed on Leno he is), and also LE and RSL, I’m happy.
Amen Alex. Ur right, Katie Jacobs should leave before she screws everyone over. Chameron is pretty much the main reason that I watch House in the 1st place. I’m thinking that a few of the episodes leading up to Cameron’s “finale” should be redone, & then take it from there. If she wants to take out people, 13 should, & must go 1st, cause we ALL know what’s gonna happen to her anyway. Either way, I’m still keeping the postive thought that the writers made the biggest mistake ever, & will bring Cameron back for good. But if not, guess where the show’s ratings are gonna go.
…i think 13 is much more interesting…and tough, and sexy…but i do agree with alex that katie jacobs is a troll, lol
