Here’s some fun scoop for the folks who enjoyed the PI last season. Michael Weston will reprise his role as the strangely inquisitive private investigator. It’s a very quirky character and I can’t wait to find out what they’ll have him do next. Will he be back to woo Cuddy? What are your thoughts?
I had a feeling we hadn’t seen the last of this guy: Michael Weston is returning to House this fall as private eye Lucas Douglas, sources confirm to me exclusively.
We first met Lucas last fall when House hired him to tail his then-estranged BFF Wilson. After appearing in multiple episodes, the character abruptly disappeared without explanation. At the time, series creator David Shore said Lucas was brought in primarily to play off of House. “But once Wilson came back,” he added, “we didn’t dramatically have a need for him anymore.”
So what brings him back? A Fox rep declined to comment beyond confirming that Weston will appear in an episode that goes into production this week. Perhaps the PI becomes a patient? Or maybe House is finally getting down to the business of solving Kutner’s “murder”? I’m spitballing here people.
Weston’s return will no doubt trigger fresh speculation about the Lucas-centered spinoff that Shore and fellow exec producer Katie Jacobs had been toying with. The project never got off the ground, but Shore was quick to note that the decision not to move forward “had nothing to do with” Weston. [Source: EW]

As long as he doesn’t take up too much screen time, I like it.
i liked the Lucas character. i’m tired of 13, Chase, glad Cuttner is gone.
I’m not really excited about his coming back either… perhaps that just means that don’t have any better ideas and are reciclying old ones…
But I am a little curious about wth they are putting him for… I hope it’s something good this time and not ‘filling holes’ or something (because last time it was to fill wilson’s hole) maybe this time is house’s hole… eeeirck…

Aww, I’m extremely excited. Ecstatic, actually. I LOOOOOOVED Lucas. Loved ‘em. I kinda missed him, too. He was a trip, hah. xD
I agree with undo. Lucas was “House-lite” (playing the piano, smitten with Cuddy, quirky, similar facial features), without Hugh’s intensity or dramatic capability. Unless he’s come back to re-find Wilson’s brother (since that storyline’s been nowhere since, what, mid-5th season?) . . .
Could be interesting to see House with a whole two friends!
