Episode 6.13 – Moving the Chains
Air Date: February 1, 2010
Tonight’s episode of House was fantastic! I nearly died laughing when Wilson found the opossum in the bathtub! LOL! And I loved getting to see Foreman’s brother on the show.
The episode was so cool; I thought we could discuss it a bit. Here are some of the things that I enjoyed about the episode and some things that made me think.
It was fun to think that House and Wilson had gone back to their pranking behavior. It takes us back to the pranks we’ve seen them pull on each other over the various seasons, like kidnapping a guitar and sending pieces as ransom requests. ;-)
My favorite House-ism for this episode:
Wilson: “Are you out of your mind?”
House: “As a former psychiatric patient, I take offense at that terminology.”
I found it really interesting that Wilson thought House was trying to compensate for his own lack of family bonds and was actually being nice. And it was even cooler when House denied it completely:
His response: “Shut up. You can’t accuse me of an opossum attack and underhanded kindness in the same visit.”
I loved the opossum vigil! And Wilson admitting that House would “never sacrifice the flat screen.”
I also thought the clinic patient who wanted to end his term in the military was a sad twist too. I’m a bit surprised that House didn’t help him with a medical excuse, and wasn’t at all sympathetic to his plight. It was very sad how the soldier found a way out.
House was up to his old self of playing with his team’s heads. This time, it was Foreman who got most of the meddling. He enlisted Foreman’s brother to tell him embarrassing things about him. It’s classic House behavior!
I liked how Foreman’s brother ended up defending him to House. And it was sad that Foreman had never told House when his mother died. We saw her when she was suffering from dementia, but we weren’t told that she had died.
It was great how the patient telling Foreman how it was important to sacrifice for family made him realize he should try to help his brother after all. I’m glad that Foreman and his brother decided to try to work things out.
At the end, Wilson told House that he was a diabolical and benevolent puppet master. I think it’s the perfect description!
And is it just me, or do any of you think Cuddy could do so much better than Lucas? I can’t stand that character!
Were you expecting it to be Lucas playing all the pranks on House & Wilson? Did you think Cuddy knew about it? What did you think of this episode of House? Leave a comment and let’s discuss!

ye i think rachels right having seen the episode again! my bad
Phil: I don’t think Wilson would ask Lucas for ANYTHING! I agree with the other theory by Rachel.
Maybe House just felt bad for the decision the service man in clinic duty made. House gave him the ‘lecture’ and gave him the ‘out’. The man chose
the option House didn’t want. I blame the man. Why didn’t he just keep trying
to find a doctor that would get him out of the service?
One pet peeve: In N.J. we say Possum, not OPossum. So I don’t know where that came from.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, all the Wilson/House this season…..keeps my mind off of Huddy, Luddy, Cameron and 13. Need more dialog for Chase and more of a personality for Taub. A funny here and there doesn’t do it for me. If there are too many characters and not enough time, I say get rid of 13 and Lucas stat!
I think with the clinic patient, House felt bad/guilty that he didnt just make up a lie for the guy to get out of army duty. I dont think until he saw the guy was willing to lose his foot by not getting treatment did he realise just how badly the guy wanted to stay home.
i am looking forward 2 the cuddy ep. it looks really interesting
Loved the episode. I was hoping that it was Cuddy pranking the boys as payback. It would have been the old Cuddy thing to do. Lucas is scaring me now, too. It seems he may be more House-like then Cuddy and the audience think. That might be what eventually breaks them up, I think. Cuddy will learn that it’s all a show. Cuddy is still in the dark about Lucas’ mean/revengeful streak and House’s nice/maturing streak. I am waiting impatiently, for the episode when she finds these things out. Please let House win! I am also loving the Wilson/House interactions this season. Great! Wilson wasn’t pranking House. He said “I win,” because he was arguing about House being secretly nice and he won the argument when House said they would not be getting back at Lucas. BTW-I think House was being nice again by NOT changing the soldier’s anitbiotics. He found a legitimate way to ensure that the guy would be around for the birth of his kid. Remember, it was House that told him the only thing he could do was NOT change his meds. As a doctor, House was required by law to change the meds and do no harm, but he didn’t and let the soldier lose his foot. Just an observation. Can’t wait til next episode!
at the end of the episode wilson asks house is he going to get lucas back and house says “no” then wilson repiles see “i win” i thought maybe wilson did all the pranks and finally got house to admit to defeat if not to him then to someone he thought was pulling the pranks. As cuddy knew about the condo and when speaking to cuddy lucas didnt seem to mad i thought maby wilson asked lucas to say it was him? anyone think this? i have my theory all because of the last lines of wilson saying “see i win”
Oh and by the way, I don’t think Lucas adds ANYTHING to the story line. Get rid of him. He’s boring. As much as I liked the last episode, and I think it’s the second best this season, it would have been much more ironic if Foreman had been the guilty party.
1. I loved the way the clinic patient and the patient of the week had problems in identical parts of their bodies. They both had problems with their toes.
2. I liked Wilson’s reaction to House when House said “Shut up. You can’t accuse me of an opossum attack and underhanded kindness in the same visit.”
Wilson’s reaction – “Do you want me to come back in” = priceless.
3. The expression on House’s face in the last scene when we all saw that the clinic patient lost his foot (after House said that if he kept him on the same old antibiotics, he’d probably lose more than just a toe) was so heartbreaking. It seemed like the same way he reacted in “Broken” when he saw Freedom Master come back with all those broken bones; like he was happy one minute (because of solving the POTW’s case) and realizing the pranks were over, then suddenly the happiness is over.
Alvie, Lydia , Stacy, no Lucas..13 letting House watch her with another woman, Cuddy getting crazy jealous…perfect season…woowoo
Yay! More people that wants Alvie back. :)
Well, he started to take his medication when House left, so he’s probably out of the asylum now. I would like to see him either visit House, just to see how he’s doing, or maybe show up as a patient? It would be intriguing to see how House would react. :D
Speaking of loonies showing up on the show… I wonder is we ever will meet Wilson’s brother. =/
Lucas is has become more of a jerk than House ever was. He was fun in the beginning back in season 5, but now??? Cuddy would be better off with House. Maybe some day she’s going to realize this.
Also loved that scene with House and Wilson sitting on the kitchen floor and Wilson’s face when he found House in the tub.
I loved Lucas in season 5, he was clever and more than an ample match for House. Now he just grates on my nerves. In fact both he and Cuddy do. I have no desire to see she and House together at all. I liked her character before all of this petty behavior started and her clothes seemed to fit her like a professional would dress. Lisa E. is gorgeous and I really admire her but I can’t stand the too tight skirts and cleavage baring clothes any longer. Give me a good s/l that is Lucas free and I’ll be as happy as a clam.
i can’t wait until Lucas is gone….
I was excited that Lucas was coming back. I liked him in Season 5. But, it’s been downhill since then. I didn’t know he was sociopath.
I would love to see Alvie. Hopefully they won’t have him date Thirteen.
@Lokun:
I would totally love to see Alvie guest star on an episode! I loved that character!! :-)
Danielle and Karen, you’ve said pretty much what I wanted to say. XD
I also liked Lucas in the begining. I accepted him as a kinda funny, temporary substitute for Wilson. But then his status just decreased in my opinion.
In the whole episode, I had a feeling that the prankster COULD be Lucas, but I hoped to the end that it would be Foreman or is brother. Hey, they kinda had a right to prank House. Lucas did NOT. He destroyed a flat screen! The possum cost them over 1500$! House could have got a fricking concussion!! And the way Lucas tripped him in the end with that smug face…
Good god, I’m not even a Huddy-fan, but I hope that the writers are aware how much they’re making people hate Lucas. And that they’re planning to use this in a upcoming episode where he gets exactly what he deserves… -_-
Except Lucas, I liked this episode. Not super-interesting, but still good. I liked the small mental hospital refference. XD Sometimes, it feels like they’ve forgot about the fact that House been to the loony bin. I hope to see an episode where they will remind us about that in a more serious way than just tiny jokes. ;) For example, I would be happy to see Alvie again. ^^
Lucas makes me very, very angry. When he tripped House at the end I was ready to jump through the screen, take House’s cane and beat Lucas over the head with it. I was praying to God that House would do it, but House has become a little bit of a softy of Mayfield; not that I’m complaining ;]
I do, however, think Lucas should back the **** off before he crosses the line and makes House really angry, because we all know how badly that would end for him.
Regarding the whole soldier thing, I imagine House wasn’t pleased with the idea of the patient turning himself into a handicap. I don’t think he likes the fact that that he’s taking advantage of being able to walk and be greatful that he could be in the army in the first place.
Cuddy has changed way too much. I don’t like her character anymore.
Other than that, it seems like the show is geting back on track. End the Lucas story line, and it’ll be perfect :D
Lucas scares the hell of out of me! He could have killed House! Further, all that damage to their apartment was insane! So, they bought the apartment before you, get over it! That was in retaliation of Cuddy making House drive 6 hours on Thanksgiving. Lucas has no right to “seek revenge.” What a creep!
I liked this episode a lot too. I had a feeling it was Lucas pranking them all along…loved the big grin on House’s face when he acknowledged that the prankster was “good”. Regarding the soldier and how House handled him, I believe House did absolutely the right thing. I think he had some sympathy for the guy, but House was right when he said you signed up, you want to break your promise now and put everyone else in danger because you changed your mind. Not many shows would tell that story from that perspective. Kudos to the writers.
I love to see Lucas and Cuddy together! They have a perfect and true interaction.
I think that there is a complicity that we dont have between Cuddy / House.
The episode, I found regular ….. very different from what we had previously …. unfortunately.
