Bravo! to Andrea for the heads up about this clip! It’s a deleted scene fromthe House episode, Brave Heart.
It shows House remembering some happy times with his father! That’s very cool! We’ve only seen him talk about his father like he was horrible. I wish they had left this in the episode!
Check this clip out, then I’d like to know what you think about it. Should it have stayed in the episode to give us more valuable back story on our favorite doctor? Or do you think they were right to take it out, since it didn’t add to the week’s story? Let us know what you think!!

Think it should have stayed in as was very nice, and would have explained the smile on his face as he was thinking and him saying there were some good times.

Dont know why that is a deleted scene it was in the episode I saw. But it is still a cute clip and a turning point in House’s life.

Sorry it didn’t stay in. Helped to explain his memories of good times.
Nice to see him happier for a change.

I think it should have stayed in too…the scene was a little choppy as played on TV. But if they were a little over on time then I guess it made sense to take that out since we still could understand the scene without it.

Uhm, maybe if they cut down on these d§%&& commercials, scenes such as this one would make it. Still glad it can be viewed. THX for sharing!

The idea is OK. The kid is totally miscast. I can’t see House as a chubby faced tyke. A child actor with leaner bone structure, shyer but bright eyes and touselled, unruly hair….and given the times jeans & a T-Shirt , would have been a nice connection.

Mmmm, cute but way too sappy for House MD.
And the close-ups of the kid’s face were not necessary – because unless they found a kid that looked EXACTLY like House might have looked at age ten (and they didn’t), the chosen face would always be a disappointment (and it was).
Better to have had scenes where the faces were either more obscured or where the PTB had hunted until they found a kid with the right hair. House’s hair would have been a mass of ginger-snap curls, not blonde and crisco-ed to his scalp.
All we really needed to see and hear was House in his bed (and more of that please PTB!! Plus House in far less clothing would be a bonus.)
I recall last year’s christmas ep’ where House is treating a clinic patient and she demonstrates how she uses her asthma puffer (like a purfume bottle).
We don’t hear House insult her, but we know he does ’cause of the tiny smile of amusement that twitches his lips upward (he’s thinking about what he’s GOING to say to this ditz!).
The next scene the woman is storming out of the clinic and we hear HER say: “JERK!”
Funny-funny-funny!!
That’s the kind of terrific subtly that’s a hallmark of the intelligent writing on House MD.
Thay were correct to delete the sappy House as a kid scene.

IMO
a “military brat” such as house wouldn’t be “allowed” to wear just jeans and a T-shirt. Also, his dad was a control freak who probably controlled how house’s hair was to the time the kid could use the restroom. We also know house was abused(season 3, one day one room) so at least this gives us a bit more of a…”happier” feeling him and his dad had.
I dont know but, something about this touched me and, showing that house is….”changing”?

it was not in the episode aired in the midwestern u.s. and i’m glad i found it on youtube. i’ve now seen it about 10 times since i’m that good, and i can see why they cut it out – it is a little too sappy, and out of character – but i hope they include it in the dvd box set. one good thing about that scene is it shows how house is trying to change, how he wants to focus on the good memories.
