Hurray! The spoilers and news about season 6 of House have started to emerge. It’s so exciting!

For example, take a look at this man in the picture. Does he look like someone House would be pals with to you? He’ll be playing a fellow mental patient on TV when House starts back in season 6.

According to Michael Ausiello at EW, Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (right) has been cast as House’s roommate in the mental hospital for the first couple of season 6 episodes.

Miranda, best known for writing and starring in the Broadway musical In The Heights, will appear in at least two episodes beginning with the show’s sixth season premiere this fall.

There’s also word on the street that the House casting folks are looking to cast a number of others with “interesting” looks to play patients in the Psych hospital too. So if you know any actors that fit that bill, be sure to tell them about it.

This is a clue that House will still be in the hospital for at least a couple of episodes…. Very interesting news!

I myself am a huge fan of House as well as the Broadway musical In The Heights. So yes I am very excited to see my two favorite people working together. I just hope they keep him longer than a couple of episodes..

I find that most people’s opinion of 5th season finale wasn’t amusing but as intelligent as the writers are, the ending was not to “amuse” rather they are evolving as the cast gets stronger carrying themselves. They want the audience to feel closer to the characters.
What they mean by “interesting” actors is not a crazy person or someone looking nuts. It’s someone who has the ability to have a presence in this kind of unique series and support the tone they are looking for. House fans know they cast well for other sick people. Look at “One who flew over the cuckoo’s nest” A respectable movie for the characters you see today.(I have been ill and have been in a Psychiatric acute center before and know what they mean by “interesting” actors. I’m not offended. I have some education in film and real-life experience) For this asylum that treats more than detox and counseling unlike where I have been. The word “interesting” simply translates to intelligent actors out there who know the show and well trained(or not) to be actually “flexible” to what David shore and the writers want to shape them into, the vision they need to support Hugh obviously in his main state. Also wanted to bring up the fact that Hugh Laurie loved doing the last 3 episodes and watched himself..for the first time without fingers in his face! He hates watching himself but he liked the challenge and the way the writers handled that. Knowing that Hugh wanted to put everything he could in this roll with the hallucinations and the detoxing scene and more shows a better appreciation for his incredible skills. He is also an executive producer on the show and he does have a past of mental illness. He’s smart and will not let us down. He supported NAMI. Don’t worry everyone :)

@ ruth & Sheelagh: Calm down you two! Everyone can voice their opinion. After all, it’s a free country. You don’t have to accept the opinion of another being. But we can still discuss things. Live and let live I say…

” get over the sensitivity crap”…..hmmmm….intersting point of view. One you could really construct a decent society out of. Say anything you want anonymously and don’t give a crap because you don’t have to see the repercussions of your mean spiritedness. Can’t people take a joke at their expense !? Why should you care if they are hurt ? Their sub-human after all, not worthy of the respect you so clearly feel you deserve. Yeah, this sensitivity thing is really bogus. Anything for a good laugh. That’s why we’re considered the superior beings on this planet; we don’t care about the next guy. As long as we’re amused, anything goes.

@SHEELAGH…i totally agree…WITH BRENDON…=)….get over the sensitivity crap…LYNN…don’t edit anything…your words are just fine and i do believe being able to express any opinion is what makes this site fun….so GET OVER IT!!!!…=0

Thank you Lynne. As an RN it matters to me how society sees the mentally ill. It’s always funny until it’s someone you care about.
I think Brendon’s reaction pretty much shows why choice of words count.
    I appreciate your sensitivity.

I think Sheelagh there is a mental case that or just loves to complain either way w/e. I’d be thankful just knowing there will be a season 6 wasn’t too sure how they were going to handle a new season with House in a mental hospital. I’ll bet House finds some way to make crazy an advantage or get away with pissing the rest of the cast off though he never needed an excuse before.

    Sheelagh:

I completely and totally apologize for making light of the topic of mental illness. It is no joke. I should have been more sensitive with my words.

I hope everyone can forgive me. I am editing the post to take out the offensive words now.

I meant no harm. Thank you for calling my attention to it.

I really, really find the whole tone of the above post offensive. Does the actor look ‘nuts’ or ‘crazy’. Are we still living in medieval times ? Mental Illness is treatable and it is an illness, not a personal failure nor something to laugh at. The House MD series supports Mental Health & I am optimistic that they at least will do something worthwhile with this arc in making bigoted people like the above writer, think before they display the limitations of their understanding & heart. Allot of viewers really love the character of Gregory House and didn’t find his suffering in the Season 5 Finale particularly amusing. Perhaps that’s the key to turn these attitudes around.
