This is an ongoing series that features TV shows or films that are horrific in nature, and generally found in the least expected places. This week’s picks feature a demonic baby, and a super rat. This video is part I of a MonsterQuest episode, and is courtesy of RetardRyan and was uploaded on July 3, 2008. Read more of Horror Where You’d Least Expect after the jump:
MonsterQuest – Super Rats
The first entry comes from the History Channel, and is an episode of the series, MonsterQuest, called Super Rats which aired July 2, 2008. The investigators explore beneath the city streets, and in the alleys and tunnels of New York city to verify sightings of what has been called ferocious rodents that are the size of house cats (20-24 inches in length). A rodent ecologist says there is proof that in prehistoric days, rats were known to grow to immense sizes. It was also noted that evidence of the biggest rodent was found in 2004, in Uruguay, and it was the size of a car.
I have family members who’ve been in places, such as near docks overseas who have seen this, and so I believe this more than I would, say…Sasquatch, bur you never know.
This series reveals the truth about monster sightings around the word. The premise behind it is that credible people have reported seeing unexplainable things over the years. On the series, a different phenomena is investigated each week, using scientific means to prove or disprove the claims. From mutant canines to the real Hobbit, they investigate a variety of sightings.
Hush Little Baby (2007)
This next entry is a Lifetime TV movie called Hush Little Baby (2007), and follows a mother who believes her infant daughter is demonic, yet no one will believe her. The film stars Victoria Pratt (Moonlight, Journey To The End of The Earth), and aired on Sunday. The film was a bit predictable, yet at the same time, I never knew what to expect since this is from Lifetime. Other stars include Johanna Black, and Ari Cohen as the husband.
The mother seemed a bit cold about the whole idea of being pregnant. When she tells her husband, the first thing he asks her is if she has been taking the pill. So, later you find out why there is so much somberness and apprehension… the woman had a previous daughter who died in a freak drowning accident. The rest of the movie might be what you’d expect, however there are some “fun things” the baby does that are quite unexplainable.
I’m sure some would say that these are not unexpected places to find horrific stories, however, they are generally not my first picks of places to look, and I’m glad to be pleasantly surprised. So, did you see this episode or movie, and what did you think?
