For some reason, when I was a kid, the word “convention” conjured
up some of the most boring memories…adults dressed in business suits (those slacks, and women in hosiery), sitting around drinking horrible coffee, and eating stale doughnuts. I know because the first convention I ever attended was with my Mom.
Attending a horror convention is likened to being at a Disneyland for horror fiends. They’re full of panels, pitch sessions, readings, cosplay, autograph signings, and stuff galore to take home with you. Here’s a list of the next best horror conventions, with convention dates.
In spite of all the work in the preparation for presenters, there is generally nothing like the experience itself, for presenters and con-goers alike.
- Flashback Weekend – June 27 – 29, 2008 in Rosemont, Illinois
- HorrorHound Weekend – June 20 – 22, 2008, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors – June 20 – 22, 2008, in Secaucus, New Jersey
- Fantastic Fest – September 18 – 25, 2008, in Austin, Texas
- World Horror Convention – April 30 – May 3, 2009 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
- San Diego Comic-Con International – July 24 – July 27, 2008 in San Diego, California
Did I mention the parties?
