Frank Henenlotter (Basket Case) recently revealed that he’ll be working on two new documentaries with Something Weird Video later this year. In an interview with STYD, Henenlotter talked about his new projects which will be hitting the film festivals soon.
“I have a documentary coming out this year on Herschell Gordon Lewis that I did with Something Weird Video, and we’re starting another documentary with Something Weird called That’s Sexploitation,” Henenlotter said.
Since Something Weird has released most of the Godfather of Gore’s titles including The Gore Gore Girls, She-Devil on Wheels and A Taste of Blood, it seemed likely that this new doc could be part of a box set, but Henenlotter confirmed this wasn’t true. “The Herschell documentary will be its own release.”
It was recently announced that Jeremy Kasten, who remade HGL’s Wizard of Gore, will be directing Suicide Girls Must Die!. Herschell himself will be releasing The Uh-Oh Show about a gory TV game show. I can imagine what will be on the Herschell doc, but hopefully we’ll find out more about That’s Sexploitation soon.
