The Dark Knight hits theaters July 18, 2008, and his co-stars say Heath Ledger carries the film — saying, in short, he IS The Joker. Some folks are talking Oscar already.
I’ve never been able to picture him in that role — loved Jack Nicholson — so am looking forward to seeing how he handles the role. He looks dark and creepy. Check out this clip from E! News:

Dennis – Thanks for the note. Such eloquent words for an eloquent actor.
Heath is awesome and he will always be remember by his true fans as a rising legend in the making. Four feathers was great, Brokeback Mountaine was good Casanova was good. The Patriot was great, Knight Tale was so awsome. But The Dark Knight with Heath shows his diversity and his enthusatic drive to play a role as the Joker the arch nemesis of Batman Is his finest role ever and sets the stands for other old and young actors to strive for. Thank you Heath for all the great times and honor of watching you on the Big screen. We love you and miss ya.

[...] came across this great clip of Heath Ledger talking about his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight, opening wide on Friday. It’s surreal listening to him talk about the role [...]
Roxanne – I agree. For me, it’s kind of a creepy role, and for it to be his last one… I think people might remember him more for Brokeback Mountain. Both he and Jake Gyllenhaal were so good in that movie.
I think it will be hard to see him on screen like that. It’s so sad.
