Get excited, HawthoRNe fans. TNT revealed this week that its latest original medical drama starring Jada Pinkett Smith will return for a second season. What a wise decision!

The August 10 announcement indicates the basic-cable network has ordered an additional ten episodes of the show for its sophomore season. Partially responsible for the pickup is HawthoRNe’s “tremendous growth” during the current first season.
For instance, the number of viewers between ages 25 and 54 has increased 90 percent, while the show’s total number of viewers has risen 69 percent. Overall, HawthoRNe averages 3.8 million viewers per episode, and the series is the #1 Tuesday-night program on ad-supported cable among adults aged 25–54 and women aged 25–54.
A renewal probably wouldn’t have happened without such a strong response from viewers, so thanks to my fellow fans for tuning in each week. Season Two will premiere at a presently unspecified time in 2010, and TNT Report will share the exact date as soon as it’s announced.
HawthoRNe airs Tuesdays on TNT at 9pm ET.
