Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits theaters today and I’m sure it’s going to kill at the box office! I’ve been really looking forward to seeing this book adapted for the big screen. This storyline is really different from the earlier ones in a lot of ways.
Hogwarts is really, really unsafe. Some students have chosen to not even enrol for the school year. Dumbledore knows that he’s got to prepare Harry for the possibility of a major battle with Voldemort. They begin a disturbing journey to find the Dark Lord’s weaknesses (I’ve got the creeps just thinking about it) and Dumbledore believes that Professor Slughorn could hold some very important information.
At the same time, the Hogwarts students are dealing with the raging hormones that come along with adolescence. Young Ginny Weasley has garnered the affections of both Harry and Dean Thomas while her older brother, Ron, finds himself the target of several girls affections but he doesn’t realize that Hermione has feelings for him too (and she can barely contain her jealousy!).
These light-hearted moments will be so important since tragedy will find its way to Hogwarts and nothing will ever be the same again.
In case you haven’t seen it already (or just want to see it again), here’s the trailer. Are you going to see it today? Have you already seen it? I’d love to hear what you thought!
