Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in Two Parts?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows The Gryffindor Gazette had an article up about the fact that Warner Bros. is reportedly considering splitting the film adaptation of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows (a.k.a. "Book 7") into two parts.  This would be done to avoid leaving too much out of this all-important, series-ending book.

Apparently, an unnamed ‘film source’ said: "There’s so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."

Thank goodness because I’m horrified to have anything left out (although, I know including everything would be impossible).  This book was absolutely amazing – the best Harry Potter book, in my opinion – and it deserves more than some rushed job that cuts out vital elements in order to cram it in to a format that’s congruent with someone’s extended lunch break (can you feel the snark?).  Love it, nurture it and send the series out in a manner befitting of it’s wide acclaim.  Oh, and hurry up already – I’m getting impatient (but don’t rush, of course *wink*).

This is an interesting idea, and it’s safe to do because they know it’ll be commercially successful, no matter what. But how, exactly, do they plan to do it? Will there be a year-long gap or more? That seems a bit much, especially since they’re cutting off in the middle of the story. IMHO there’s a lot that could be left out of DH for the movie.

Maybe they’ll do it like the Matrix. The second and third movie were like a month apart, weren’t they?
