Harper’s Island: CBS’s Answer To Mainstream Slasher Film?

Here’s the latest video and synopsis for CBS’s Harper’s Island. You’re invited to a week-long wedding celebration to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle.

Unbeknownst to you, the island has a history…a series of murders that took place just seven years go. Time seems to have stood still there…until now, as fellow guests begin to die, one by one. This is the premise of CBS’s new mid season series slated for the Fall, Harper’s Island.

I have to admit that on first look, just the premise reminded me of the game, Clue. However, the portion of the trailer that features the creepy little girl seems to give the film a dark horror feel. Giving this a look so far has been truly interesting, as the murder theme and atmosphere set it apart.

Here’s the real questions we want answered: Will there be a different murder each week? Is the supernatural involved, or is the murderer just extremely clever, hiding out on the island all along, or disguised as one of the hapless wedding guests? Gee, I can’t wait to see this.

The ways in which the islanders die is going to be the true indicator of where writer Jeffrey Bell wants to take us on this. The stars are Ryan Merriman, Elaine Cassidy and Samantha Noble. However, Hollywood Reporter revealed as of May 19 that the casting was being retooled. In the meantime, let’s hope the series gets a chance, and for God’s sake, no candlesticks as murder weapons!
