The trailer for Rob Zombie’s upcoming sequel H2: Halloween 2 was recently released and I will admit to being curious. Truthfully, I’m a huge horror movie fan and the original Halloween (1978) is one of the best film’s
I’ve ever seen. It was so innovative for its time and that opening scene which was filmed all in one take from a point-of-view perspective through little Michael Myer’s mask was a huge triumph. It was hard for me to put that aside and accept Zombie’s remake where we are basically treated to a case study on the family.
I know a lot of people liked it but a lot of people hated it too and I was one of them. I wasn’t even able to make it all the way through so I’m approaching this sequel with a lot of trepidation. I have to give Zombie credit, however, for trying to do something new with the storyline rather than just remake it but then I also have to ask why the classic needed to be remade at all…
Also, I can’t help but chuckle at the similarities between the name of this movie H2 and an earlier sequel in the franchise Halloween: H20 which was kind of lame but I actually liked it.
Anyway, I haven’t found a lot of information about the movie’s plot but I’m guessing it’s going to have something to do with our favorite serial killer being out on the loose. It hits theaters on August 28, 2009. Check out the teaser trailer (I’ll admit that it looks a lot better than the first one!):
