You might think that servicing the needs of GWAR in this, the midst of their 25^th Anniversary Tour would be a full-time job. And it is! But for the artists of Slave Pit Inc., the production company that created and maintains GWAR lust for all things rubber, a constant slew of side-projects is business as usual. This holiday season sees the artists behind the most notorious band in metal history involved in a bevy of extra-curricular delights.

Besides portraying GWAR‘s bellicose lead singer Oderus Urungus, Dave Brockie is a painter, writer and avid snowboarder…and has just released his own signature snowboard! When old buddy, huge GWAR fan, and ex-pro rider Ron Bureta got his own company going, the long-held idea of a Brockie snowboard finally became a reality.

Says Bureta, “Since “HELL-O!” I have been a huge GWAR fan, scaring the jocks in high school by singing lyrics from “Slutman City” out loud. During my Pro Snowboarder days, I always wanted to do a GWAR graphic but my sponsors thought that it wouldn’t be cool. Now that I own my own company I’m doing things my way. Teaming up with Dave Brockie for this project is a dream come true for me and is the next best thing to becoming a GWAR Slave.”

GORMAN’S TROLLS AS FEATURED IN SPIN MAGAZINE

Bob Gorman is one of GWAR‘s lead slaves and portrays GWAR‘s hapless killing creates t-shirt designs and logos, custom illustration, and paintings. He also designs and fabricates custom props and costumes for GWAR and other clients and manufactures and sells concrete “Garden Trolls”, as featured in the Nov. 2009 issue of Spin magazine. MATT MCGUIRE’S “FRIENDS” THINK “BLOOD IS YUMMY”.

Slave-Pit artist Matt Maguire is one of the main figures on the Slave-Pit shop floor and GWAR‘s live show. This talented artist, who plays GWAR‘s mixed up Scumdog cohort Sawborg-Destructo, also builds lots of the props and costumes for used by GWAR, also designs many of the shirts and other graphic elements of GWAR‘s assault on humanity, and also serves as GWAR’s stage manager. Yet somehow he finds time to produce all kinds of collectible art. He does custom drawings, paintings, and tattoo designs, and creates limited runs of a host of bizarre creatures, including the “Blood is Yummy”, and “Friends” figures. Matt and Bob Gorman collaborate on the slave-trade.net site, and he can be reached through mattmaguire.com or at slavetrade.net for graphics, tattoos, and costumes one of a kind art, and fabrication work.
