Great White Agree To Shell Out $1 Mil To The Station Fire Victims

Mourners Visit Memorial At Rhode Island Nightclub Site

According to The Providence Journal, Great White has agreed to shell out a 1 million dollars to the victims of The Station Nightclub fire of 2003. This is a tentative agreement and has to be approved by the victims. The money will be provided through insurance and an allocation plan must be approved by the court. As you may recall, the man responsible for the pyrotechnics, Daniel Biechele, was released from prison on parole in march after serving less than half of his four year prison sentence for 100 counts of manslaughter.

I’m kind of up in the air on this one. I seriously don’t think that Great White in any venue from a night club to an arena really constitute the use of pyro. This was a huge accident and if the night club owner authorized the use of pyro then it is on him and again…Great White didn’t need to use pyro in such a small place.

As far as the families go, this was an accident that could have been prevented in a number of ways and there is no amount of money that could bring their family members back or compensate for their loss. America’s legal system is seriously broken and every time someone dies, someone else wants to sue. No one wants to suffer the loss of a loved one, but this has been dragged out for 5 years now and sadly it will be dragged out longer until someone feels they can be monetarily compensated for their loss. It’s time to move on and money will only make you feel better for a short time.
