Gore Gallery: Knitted Dissections and Knitidermy

Welcome to biology class. Bloated carcasses–splayed open with innards that gleam perversely at you. Pins submerged in fatty wax. And the smell–oh the smell. There’s nothing quite like it and while many wouldn’t care to relive the experience, I remain fascinated by these creatures. Right now, someone wants to take my vegetarian card away from me but as many horror fans will tell you–we are not squeamish when it comes to this stuff.

Emily Stoneking aka the Crafty Hedgehog is a knitted dissection and knitidermy expert. She crafts all the little creatures you have fond memories of slicing and dicing in school. Other creations include those creeptastical critters you might see collecting dust in your local antique shop–stuffed, frozen and glassy-eyed. She even mounts them with pins an aluminum dissection trays. NICE. No detail has been forgotten–she also knits adorable little innards for you to squish between your fingers and play with. There are also biology models to enjoy.

You can check out her Etsy store here. Keep in mind that a lot of these creations are being made to order so be patient and order early! Which creature is your favorite?
