Gina Bellman’s Got ‘Leverage’

Gina Bellman and Timothy Hutton/Leverage

Yeah, the U.S. adaptation was a flaming disaster, but I loved the original British version of the dysfunctional-relationship sitcom Coupling.

Tonight, New Zealand-born English actress Gina Bellman, one of the stars of that Britcom (she played self-obsessed Jane Christie), as well as the 2007 chiller Jekyll, makes her debut in the series premiere of TNT’s new crime drama Leverage.

The show revolves around a group of technologically capable criminals, led by Oscar winner Timothy Hutton, who steal from other rich and/or corrupt criminals who dare to prey on others. If you’re thinking Robin Hood, you’re spot on.

Bellman plays seductress and mistress of disguise Sophie Devereaux, and you can learn a bit about the series in the trailer and preview below. Then catch the premiere “The Nigerian Job” tonight at the special time of 10pm EST, after which the show moves to its regular time slot of Tuesdays at 10pm (including this week).

I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, so I hope it’s as good as the promos make it seem. The following preview clip certainly looks promising.

Absolutely, Alan, I couldn’t agree more. In fact, Gina is fabulous again on Leverage. It’s *so* good to see her back in action on TV, especially since I really enjoy her new gig thus far.

It’s wonderful to see Gina Bellman again. She was fabulous on “Coupling”, and to see her in a more dramatic role will be exciting I’m sure.
Okay, I’m biased because I am such a big fan, but this woman has that “certain something” which will surely keep her around for a long, long time! Three cheers for Gina. Alan
