"G.I. Joe" Movie Casting News

image"He’ll fight for freedom wherever there’s trouble, G.I. Joe is there!"  Why? Because he’s a "Real American Hero," of course!

In casting news, Marlon Wayans has signed on to star in the new cartoon-turned-movie, "G.I. Joe.He will be playing Ripcord, the leader of the military unit!  That’s a great role for him.  He’s almost exclusively appeared in comedies and while this is unlikely to be an Oscar contender, it is a slight break from what audiences expect from him.

Joseph Gordon-Leavitt is also reportedly joining the cast and will play Duke Hauser’s best friend (the role of Hauser has yet to be cast).

IMDb says that "the story is set at Brussels-based GIJOE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer."

COBRA!!!!  Okay, now I’m getting excited.  There’s some other casting news but, for fun (and to refresh your memory), I’m putting pictures of the rumored and confirmed cast members next to the original characters.  Here we go!
