As a longtime Ghost Rider fan, especially of the original run through the 1970's and early 80's, I enjoyed the film. In fact, the only thing that truly annoyed me was the silly looking motorcycle. I really think they should have used a simple, classic harley throughout the movie. As far as it being profitable, yes, it brought in quite a bit of $ compared to the cost to make it, especially when you factor in pay tv, dvd. Although many might consider Ghost Rider to be a "B" or even "C" list Marvel comic character, his movie was much more successful than the latest Hulk movie. (even though that one was pretty good) So yes, a 50% or 60% return on their investment was more than enough to get a sequel greenlit. I watched it in the theater with a friend.
