Fringe: What Lies Below Review was So-So

212_whatliesbelow_0115I’ve been putting off writing a review of last week’s episode of Fringe and now I think I know why. I have nothing to say about it. It’s that simple.

“What Lies Below” was a basic story about a viral contaminate lose in an office building. Olivia and Peter arrive on the scene just in time to be part of the quarantine and it isn’t long before Peter is infected.

The promos on this looked great. Like a lock-down horror movie where the people you love have gone psycho. But the actual episode wasn’t nearly as exciting as the promos led me to believe. Certainly there was a decent amount of heart-wrenching pathos when Walter realized that Peter was inside and even more when he realized he was sick. The notion that they’ve all become a dysfunctional but supportive family was nice and the Walter / Astrid scenes were as usual some of my favorites. But the only really juicy bit in the whole episode was Astrid catching on to Walter’s slip about Peter dying “again.”

Don’t get me wrong. It wasn’t that I didn’t like the episode. I did. It just didn’t push the buttons for me as I thought it would.

What did you think of Fringe: “What Lies Below?” Exciting, so-so, or move along. . . nothing to see here?
