After reaching Christmas Number One, Rage Against The Machine promised to hold a free gig in the U.K. to celebrate the fact and to thank all the fans who bought Killing In The Name. And they’re now delivering on that promise, with the free gig to be held in London in June.
As you’re no doubt aware, Rage Against The Machine nabbed the Christmas Number One from The X Factor winner Joe McElderry. This followed a grassroots campaign started on Facebook intended to make sure a reputable song made the holiday top spot rather than another one of Simon Cowell’s manufactured muppets.
It worked, with the chart battle being one of the most exciting for years and making sure both records sold in record numbers.
RATM were so pleased they promised a free gig in 2010 to celebrate. And details of that free gig as well as how to get tickets have now been revealed.
There are two steps to try and secure one of the 40,000 tickets available for the gig, which is to be held in Finsbury Park, London, on June 6.
1. Visit TheRageFactor and register your interest. This has to be done by Midnight on Sunday, Feb. 14, and requires the uploading of a passport photo showing your face. You’ll then be issued with a registration number.
2. Tickets are being released at 9am on Wed, Feb. 17, when you’ll have to enter your registration number and keep your fingers crossed that you’re on of the lucky ones.
There’s sure to be a lot of interest in this gig. RATM sold 500,000 singles at Christmas and I’m guessing a lot of those people will register for tickets, meaning a one-in-10 chance of being successful.
Still, it has to be worth it, doesn’t it? Rage are one of the best rock groups in the world, and to see them play live on such an occasion would be absolutely mind-blowing. I just wish there was an easier way to bag a ticket.

Passsport photo? What? i have a passport, but what’s this all about. I still say that hole in the jeans is a travesty. Rich enuf to buy a pair of new jeans but he wants to wear jeans with a hole. That’s not good.

Ya know, I take that back. Take back whaat? Well, the fact that the nasty hole in the jeans is bothersome. Actually, I now think the hole is pretty cool. After all, it’s the ‘in’ thing to do–rip your jeans to the point of no return. That is, no return to the store where you bought ‘em!
