Former Tudors star James Frain cast in True Blood

James Frain and guest at The 18th Annual BAFTA/LA Britannia Awards held at The Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City, California on November 5th, 2009. More news for Tudors fans: James Frain, who played Thomas Cromwell as a deliciously manipulative counselor to Henry VII for two years, will bounce from Showtime to HBO now that his run on The Tudors has ended with his beheading.

Frain will join the cast of True Blood as Franklin Mott, an over-protective vampire love interest for TaraEW’s Michael Ausiello reports. The English actor will inhabit the role of a “tall, dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an ‘immediate and torrid’ connection to Tara,” Ausiello notes.

With his lean, pale good looks and hollow eyes, Frain, shown here with his date at the BAFTA/LA awards, seems half vampire already. And with his wickedness fully on display for two seasons of The Tudors, we have no doubt he’ll be a great addition to the True Blood ensemble. What do you think?
