Hola, Gecko-ites! I thought it might be fun to flash back to some of my favorite movie scenes. This is from “13 Going on 30,” starring Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo, Judy Greer and Andy Serkis, released on DVD Aug. 3, 2004.
Jenna Rink is a 13-year-old girl who desperately wishes to be older and on her own. Thanks to some magic pixie dust, she gets her wish and lands smack in the middle of NYC with a fabulous apartment and her dream job as editor of Poise Magazine. But she doesn’t lose her girlish charm, as shown in this clip, where she comes up with a unique way to get the party started.
What I love about this clip is you can see how awkward Jennifer Garner is at the beginning, but inside her head, she’s only 13 and not afraid to go out there and make a fool of herself. But once she takes that chance, everyone else jumps on board and it’s a big success. Meanwhile, she persuades her childhood friend “Matty” to dance, but he’s grown so cynical about life since she shunned him years ago, that it’s not the happy ending quite yet. They make us wait for that.
Rated PG-13 for some sexual content and brief drug references. Buy 13 Going On 30 (Special Edition).

Alexandra – Absolutely. The Gecko knows all. :-)
Dexie – I love Jennifer Garner, too. One of these days, I’ll go back and watch “Alias” from start to finish.
