ABC has previewed the first two episodes from Lost Season 5 (“Because You Left” and “The Lie”) to select journalists and their non-spoilery reactions are starting to trickle in — and all of them are overwhelmingly positive! Here are some highlights.
Televisionary’s Jace says to “expect to see some familiar faces return as the writers answer some provocative questions about the history of the Dharma Initiative, just what Ben did turning that ancient wheel beneath the Orchid Station, and, yes, why Locke died. Along the way, there’s a slew of new mysteries involving compasses, blood, fire, hands, pendulums, archaic computers, and event windows.” Televisionary also calls the two eps “brilliant and provocative.”
Zap2It’s Korbi Ghosh promises “you won’t be disappointed,” and offers lots of hints, including: “Several important questions will be answered right off the bat, including why the Oceanic 6 must return to the Island, exactly what happened when Ben moved the Island and what Sun meant when she said that she and Widmore had common interests.”
TV Guide’s Matt Mitovich says, “Picking up soon after the events of the season finale, ‘Because You Left’ reiterates Ben’s claim that Jack et al must return to the island to make things ‘right’ (there’s a ’scientific need’ for that reunion to happen), then lets slip a bit of insight — from the perspective of those left behind — as to where the island moved.”
And DocArzt reveals this whopper: the opening scene features “a character of mythic proportions for Lost fans, seen doing things that we’ve always wanted to see him do and mixing with people we never thought we’d see him mix with, particularly this early in the season.”
There are tons of other hints offered at each of these links (and surprisingly little overlap between them), so each one is worth a visit.
Season 5 premier date of January 21st is now officially: Longest. Wait. Ever.
