'Extreme Paranormal' Premieres Tonight

I just caught a few commercials for A&E’s Extreme Paranormal which premieres tonight at 10 PM ET.

The show is being pushed as the rebel of the paranormal world.

In “Extreme Paranormal,” irreverent paranormal explorers Shaun, Nathan and Jason investigate chilling local legends, attempting to seek the truth by provoking spirits. Unlike other paranormal investigators, they put themselves directly in harm’s way – taunting ghosts, summoning the dead and daring the demonic to attack.

Shaun Burris and Nathan Schoonover are experienced paranormal investigators that also host a radio show, Ghostman and Demon Hunter, every Sunday.

Are you going to be watching this one tonight?

Are we really supposed to believe that the same people who bring us the commercially driven Paranormal State are interested in anything other than ratings? This show is destined to be a collection of video clips of three talking heads berrating thin air.

A&E is becoming a running joke in the paranormal world.

There are few with any real credibility in my eyes, the TAPS crew seems to put some effort into impatiality and transparency, but more recent episodes have wreaked of A&E type sensationalism. I would say though, that Destination Truth and Ghost Hunters International still hold decent entertainment value.

True, they do each have their own value as an entertainment venue, some more than others.

One thing I often find myself repeating is the fact that someone having done something for a logn time, does not make them an expert, or particularly good at it. People tend to become complacent and to make the same old mistakes time and again.

I don’t know the trio that will be aggravating ghosts everywhere on Extreme Paranormal, but I am highly suspicious of any such crew that seeks to diminish the real work, the academic work, being done by so many others in the field, without the budgets of network TV.

There is a reason the physical sciences aren’t paraded around on TV for all to gawk at, besides the fact that most are as boring as watching paint dry, and that is that impartiality doesn’t mix with the Hollywood agenda.

Shows like Extreme Paranormal have the very real potential to cause undue pain for the survivors, relatives, and descendants of victims of violent death, and for what? So the average hypnotized and dummied down TV viewer can get their rocks off?

I am a direct descendant of the victims of the Bonito Lake New Mexico tragedy being featured on Extreme Paranormal show tonight.

First of all, my ancestors have spilled more than enough blood already. You know, like REAL blood?? That their tragedy is being exploited for sensationalized reality TV is stupid, disrespectful and wrong.

The story has already been told and re-told, and grossly distorted along the way. The only survivor and eye witness (another of my ancestors) of the tragedy had moved far away and never contributed to the stories out there, so it is all based on conjecture to begin with.

Naturally, the ghost story aspect gained steam over time. Just as when anything horrible happens anywhere: ghost stories spring up. Does that make any of these “ghost” stories true? I doubt anybody involved with Extreme Paranormnal has a clue…

The show’s chubby cheeked boy hosts have obviously never had any authentic contact with negative entities from the other side, cause if they had, the last thing they’d be doing now is trying to fool around with the ghosts of mass murderers. They would have already learned their lesson.

And this trend of increasingly disrespectful and aggressive paranormal shows is contributing to fast growing numbers of dumbshit copycat kids going out there causing property damage at supposedly haunted sites and invading cemeteries all over the U.S.A.

    Lovely.

Incidently, when the “Extreme Paranormal” researchers contacted our family, they were dishonest, hiding the fact that they were out to taunt the killer, “…daring demons to attack” and all that macho childish crap. When my relative tried to straighten the researchers out on the actual facts, it soon became apparent that the show wasn’t likely to allow the truth to get their way.

So tonight, some bullshit super fictionalized story will go out there in the world, and for what? To feed gullible goofballs with too much time on their hands their daily dose of hype that now replaces meaningful interaction with actual people in the actual world?

C’mon, let’s get real here. I have lived on this planet many many years, here is some advice. Go get a real life.

Ask yourself this question, how many hours a day do you spend on meaningless entertainment via the computer, TV, cell phones, gadgets, etc? And why are you so interested in pseudo spooky stuff? Got negativity? Just what the world needs more of. Try pulling some weeds in your Mother’s garden instead, it would be far more productive and healthy. Besides, you’ll meet the other side soon enough. Life’s short, why not make something real out of it?

By the way, if you want to know the truth about the Mayberry tragedy, google it in six months, my relative is writing the true story.

Finally, there is no basis to any ghost stories at the Lake. None of the longterm residents and fishermen who’ve lived or now live near Bonito Lake have ever reported any paranormal activity. Yet some say how on a clear night sometimes one can see the steeple from the old church poking out of the water. Yeah right, the lake is 75 feet deep, and oh, there was never a church in old Bonito City….The show is a sham, but you know that already, right?

i’m curious to see how they manage this show. i mean, how do you go away from the current winning script?

ryan – chip, are you sensing anything?
    chip – i… i’ve got to stop…
ryan – whatever could be a problem, chip?
chip – the ghost/demon/entity is telling me to strangle you.
audience – me too… or perhaps get a heavy 2×4…

    ~later~

ryan – if you can hear us, make a noise…
    *bang*/*rattle*/*light flicker*
everyone – oh my god, did you hear that?
eilfie – my parents hate me…

This show was a scripted joke! Only thing they did was run around like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off! This definitely doesn’t come any where close to Travel Channel’s, Ghost Adventures. I can tell you know this show isn’t going to last long! This show should be called; Extreme Retards! And think I had good feeling about this show.

Wow, Yvonne, what a bunch of jerks. Can’t say I’m surprised.

That show was one of the biggest pieces of trash we’ve come across in a long time… and that’s saying something in this era of “Ghost Adventures” and “Paranormal State.” The sad thing is, the little fat guy actually used to be a member of our old paranormal adventuring team. This show is the perfect example of why he no longer is.

“Worked in the paranormal” for ten years is a stretch. Gowin, yeah, he’s been around. That I can vouch for. Those other guys definitely have not. And they most definitely do not broadcast their little podcast out of a studio. That little fib set up the show for a load of bullshit.

You guys want some inside scoops? We got ‘em.

GHI is entertaining for the insanely cool locations they visit alone and Destination Truth has a funny host so that helps. The paranormal has become part of pop culture more than ever before so more and more shows are bound to pop up. Is it more credible to you that on this new A&E show, ‘Extreme Paranormal’, the guys claim to have worked in the field for 10+ years?

you make some great points and i agree. it’s a shame that most people’s knowledge of the paranormal will be based off of the bad shows out there.
