As we all know, Emily Deschanel is very involved in animal rights issues. She is often seen attending Farm Sanctuary events and now she’s scheduled to be a guest speaker for the Celebration FOR the Turkeys. The event will take place on November 11 and I’ll do my best to get photos of Emily at the event for you.
Since it’s the time of the year when the most turkeys are consumed, the Farm Sanctuary is trying to raise awareness of the treatment of turkeys used for food. I’m sure that if more people understood how they are treated, they would be outraged.
I applaud Emily’s efforts and as a non-vegan vegetarian, I won’t be eating turkey this Thanksgiving either.

Up here in Montana , we have free range turkeys, raised by the Hutterites. The only meat or fowl I will eat is that which lives free of torture.
I am not opposed to eating meat. Humans are omnivores. Meat is a natural part of our diet. But human beings need to remember that we should respect the cycle of life, and that includes not just the stuff that consumes us, but the stuff we consume.
Vegetarians sometimes forget that vegetables are life, too. Just because we don’t see their “faces,” doesn’t mean they are somehow inferior to cows and sheep…all life should be honored.
And vegetarians should also remember that thousands of wild animals are killed every year by farm equipment…foxes, rabbits, chipmunks, deer, squirrels, crows, bluebirds…the list goes on and on.

8 months vegetarian thanks to the inspirational Ms. Deschanel. No turkey for me this year.
The research I have done since becoming an admirer of Ms. D, on the inhumane treatment of farm animals makes has made me ill sometimes. But, it also makes me pretty firm in my convictions to stick with it. And to gently pass on to others what I am learning.

I think what she’s doing is wonderful! I’m a vegan and I take in (and adopt) rescue pups – there can never be too many people willing to speak out for the animals! She really helps people see what is going on, but she does it politely and kindly – which gets people to listen.

While I applaud her dedication … I’m still having turkey for Thanksgiving! (If I can figure out how to work my oven. *grin* )

I’m really sorry to hear that your comment did not go live! I personally go and approve comments that are caught by the spam filter, but I’m only human…sometimes I miss one! Please go comment again, if you remember what was said!
Also, the spam filter catches comments that have the word “sexy” in it, not just swear words. It also catches comments with links embedded. (And the blog network tells me to remove the links too.)
*sigh*
I try to keep all the comments and make this a good place for Bones fans to share, but I goof at times. Please bear with me. :-)
I hope you have a great day!
