E! Online’s Watch With Kristin was first to break the news of the major character death coming at the end of this season. (Though no one’s actually come right out and said it, given the show’s shooting schedule, we’re all assuming that the death occurs in the 2-hour Season 5 finale. Because it would be true to form for Lost. Season 3 ended with Charlie‘s death, Season 4 ended with Michael‘s, etc.)
This week, WWK says that this coming death will create “a Charlie’s-death-level emotional reaction” among fans, and it’s so big that it caused the writing staff to have a major emotional reaction, and even doubt themselves. But they say that they plan out endings to every character’s story arc, and this was when this particular character reaches the end of theirs.
So who would we, the fans, have the most emotional reaction to losing? I think all hardcore Losties would have pretty strong reactions to losing any of the cast right now, but a reaction as strong as Charlie’s death narrows it down. I think it would have to be Desmond, Hurley, Sawyer, or Sayid to be as big as it’s being hyped. And I’m not ready to say goodbye to any of them yet.
But I’m telling you right now: it better not be Hurley.

i swear if u kill sawyer ill never watch the show again carlton cuse/damon lindelof have already killed charlie r.i.p. but ill jump off a bridge if they kill sawyer
I wish it would be Kate. Would put an end to the (now boring) “love triangle” between Sawyer, Kate and Jack. UGH.
How long since we had any significant Juliet back story? I think her time us up, much as I love looking at her.
True, but read between the lines. WWK is drawing a parallel between Charlie’s death and this upcoming death. WWK is saying that just as the writers had a difficult time letting go of Charlie, they’re having a hard time letting go of this major character, as well.
The article doesn’t say the reaction of the writers to this particular death was that emotional, it had Kitsis saying (paraphrasing) when they feel bad about killing characters they trust it’s a good point, because then the audience will feel it, too. Or something like that. He was never referring to any specific death, it was Kristin who drew that connection.
it’s going to be ben
Wish it was Juliet
I wish it’s Hurley! Although I think it is more likely to be Sayid.
I agree… not hurley… my money’s on sayid.
