David Duchovny, Demi Moore and Amber Heard have signed for The Joneses, a dramedy directed and written by Derrick Borte. Gary Cole is also on board.
The story revolves around a picture-perfect family (is there such a thing?) that moves into a suburban neighborhood and immediately becomes the toast of the town, loved and envied by all. But the truth is that they’re a fake family put together by a marketing company as a way to introduce new luxury-level products to neighborhoods around the world.
Here’s the rundown:
- Duchovny plays the fake dad, a man undergoing a crisis of confidence because he’s living a lie (hmmm…).
- Moore plays the fake mom, a career-driven woman struggling with her growing feelings toward her fake husband.
- Heard plays the fake daughter who’s trying to seduce her fake dad while looking for a rich man.
- Cole plays a neighbor.
Sounds like it could be funny, as well as a great social commentary on life in suburbia/advertising/family life.
