Zap2It’s KorbiTV reports that Joss Whedon’s latest project, Dollhouse, is shutting down production for two weeks. Whedon, who is not only writing but directing episodes, apparently needs more time to tailor scripts to his liking.
Since Dollhouse doesn’t debut until midseason, there is plenty of time for Whedon to tweak things. As Korbi notes, this move isn’t without current precedent. Fox’s monster hit 24 is also shutting down for a couple of weeks. Like Dollhouse, 24 has already shot several episodes and isn’t slated to come onto the Fox schedule until midseason.
I know the Whedon faithful are ever nervous about the Fox-Joss Partnership Part 2, but there really doesn’t seem to be anything to get worked up about here.
Dollhouse, which also reunites Whedon with Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel alum Eliza Dushku, is about a group of people that have had their memories wiped for sinister purposes. In addition to Dushku, it also stars Battlestar Galactica’s Tahmoh Penikett.

For the record Fox Broadcasting Company just airs and markets the shows on it’s network, whereas Joss’s production company is paid by Twentieth Century Fox Television, who also paid for the production of all of his previous shows. So there is no Fox Broadcasting Company partnership, which is why the shows can be sold to other network to distribute. FBC is just the distributor and has marketing rights.
