D.J. Caruso to direct "Jack the Giant Killer"

dj-caruso Fee fie foe fum, I smell the blood of … the "Eagle Eye" director.

D.J. Caruso, who directed "Disturbia," "Eagle Eye," and early episodes of "The Shield," is jumping into the land of fairytales to helm "Jack and the Giant Killer."

I can’t figure out if this is a kids’ movie or an adult drama. The script by Mark Bomback ("Live Free or Die Hard") follows a princess who’s kidnapped, which sets into a motion an uproar between men and giants. A young farmer is given an opportunity to lead a dangerous expedition to the giants’ kingdom in the hopes of rescuing her.

With those action-thrillers in Caruso and Bomback’s past, you have to think this won’t be any ordinary fluffy family movie.
