In this episode of Dirty Jobs for the Shark Week 2008 Special, which aired on July 29th, Mike Rowe and team went in search of a very rare shark. The “vacation” came courtesy of the president of the network. They flew to the Arctic Circle and then snow-mobile across the ice of the Arctic Ocean to search for the Greenland Shark.
The Greenland Shark is pretty large some of them up to 6 meters. It is the largest of the arctic fish and the most elusive. The trip starts in Ottawa, Canada and then the fly for about 2 hours. We get to see the “exciting” time that the crew has aboard the 3-hour flight.
So as they are crossing the Arctic Circle, Dan one of the crew members falls in a crack in the ice. Mike actually thinks this is hilarious. It doesn’t seem that ‘dirty’ in the very beginning, just really, really cold.
Watch the video below of fishing for a Greenland Shark, its not from Shark Week, but its the best we have.
