Breck Eisner, who will be doing The Crazies remake, has been tapped as the new director for The Brood remake, originally directed by my boyfriend David Cronenberg. The L.A. Times had this to say:
Eisner has signed on to a film that’s kind of new but kind of familiar (and scary): “The Brood.” That’s the David Cronenberg horror flick about a woman who telepathically communicates with her group of mutant children, instructing them to act out violently. Eisner’s on board to direct the new version, which is written by Cory Goodman for financier Spyglass Entertainment.
Oh god oh god oh god–why!? Isn’t remaking Romero enough? What more could Eisner possibly add? Cronenberg’s film about an unconventional psychotherapy treatment that produces terrifying physical changes in its patients is an original and creepy flick that need not be touched. It’s nice to look at, disturbing, violent, has great twists and turns AND you get to see Samantha Eggars licking a mutated baby. Color me bummed.
Check out the trailer for the original film below and make sure you make this Christmas a Cronenberg Christmas.
