Dharma Wants You - Dharma Bought by LOST

Dharma Initiative recruits: check your inbox. In case you haven’t heard, the newly reconstituted Dharma Initiative lost its funding and was sold to the television show Lost (ahem).

The latest “Dharma Wants You” email message reflects this change in power, with a special note written by Damon Lindelof (Producer) and Carlton Cuse (Producer / Writer). (What is the Dharma Initiative?)

If you want to be spoiled, read on after the jump!

The message states that Lindelof and Cuse have created something new called Dharma Special Access, and they’re going to use it to post exclusive content every week leading up to the Season 5 premiere on January 21st. The kicker is that only Dharma recruits will have access to this special content for the first 48 hours after it’s been posted; after that, the rest of the world can view it too. (It’s my unfortunate duty to report that recruit sign-ups have been closed for some time now, so if you haven’t signed up yet, that ship has sailed. But hey, it’s only a difference of 48 hours.)

First up: a personal vid message from Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse from the Lost Kubrick signing event in L.A. The video also contains a “Lost Starter Kit” which is basically a 5-minute recap explaining the show’s premise and characters (because Losties really need to be reminded? as if!).

The real question is whether or not, despite what Damon and Carlton tell us in their video message about the economy hitting Dharma hard, this Lost buys Dharma” twist was planned all along. My feeling is that it most likely was, especially considering how it all began, back at Comic-Con. And in case you weren’t there, here’s a video of the entire Lost panel taken by yours truly (which also includes some juicy teasers for Season 5).

What do you think of the “Lost buys Dharma” twist?

Nice to meet you Robin… :)

I can’t believe that Dharma picked me to be a gardener.. UGhhhh I wanted to be something more important!

Thanks Brian. I look forward to working with you!

I’m not sure there were very many important jobs, Taylor. (Nice to meet you too.) I remember seeing the list somewhere, and they all the jobs mundane things like “bricklayer” or “plumber.”

I may lose some cred for admitting this, but after I went through the live questioning booth thing at Comic-Con, I never got around to doing the rest of the testing online. (I was on a book deadline, and I take care of our baby boy during the day since I work at home. I know, wah-wah, excuses excuses…) I feel badly about it as the official Lost guru in these parts. Though considering how all that testing ended up not mattering one good spit, I’m feeling a little better now. :)

LOL… I was hoping I didn’t miss out on anything. So I’m glad to hear that Gardener was probably the most exciting of all of them.

You went to Comic Con? Now I’m seriously jealous. LOL

Comic-Con is freaking awesome. Believe the hype. I heartily encourage attending if you can work it out, though it can be overwhelming with so many people. But it’s totally worth it. This was my fourth consecutive year attending, and I have every hope of being back next year.

I know last year I was like really?? I don’t care. This year I was begging the boss to pay for me to go. Now, I am trying to already get him pay for it for next year. :)

I do feel I should warn you that this year the tweeners invaded Comic-Con because of Twilight. If that doesn’t bother you, then you’ll be fine. If it does, you might want to bring ear plugs to filter out all the painfully high-pitched screeching. (Especially since they just announced plans to move forward with more movies in that series, so they’ll be back at CC.)

I have a teen at home so I’m good. LOL. But they will probably be back since the second one is in the works. It’s all good though…I just want to go… :)
